Poetry
There's a suddenness about it
It strikes you kind of sudden
Suddenly you see it
Suddenly it's gone.

A most mismatched apology
There, right there, for all to see
There, there, right in front of me
And all along too blind to see.

There used to be a Temperance League
Portrayed poorly in history
Your drinking makes for disarray
Equal rights. Equal say.

This isn't going to work
What you say I'll never believe
There is no point in our going on
Let's let everything wash away.

The economy is good
The economy is dead
It's so confusing
To read two papers.

I know she's going to ring me
I won't be left alone
I'll pretend that I am not at home
I'll ignore the telephone.

Tell me what you really think
I'll tell you my thoughts too
Then we'll see who is confused
We two, we two, we two.

Four people with tattoos
Sitting on the train
Born to live. Born to die.
Cross and anchor. Lorelei.

What about the painted lady
So sophisticated
Underneath the setting powder
Lost to the world?

He based his decision
On the facts at hand
Every single option
A mystery.

'EVEN MORE OPTIONS'

It's the counted syllable
It's the single subject
It's the nursery rhyming
It's the knowing he's going to die.

I wish you wouldn't fight
Who cares who's right or wrong?
Our peaceful Sunday dinner
Three weeks gone.

Long since after
You've given up trying
You've changed your manner
Then you'll understand.

My cousin has Aids
I know he is not alone
But he's singular to me
His name is John.

It's absolutely futile
Why I even bother
I shouldn't be persistent
You're embarrassed that I care.

There's nothing wrong with being gay
What a state we're coming to
Your anger is your jealousy
No one fancies you.

Who could possibly understand you
When it's all designed for effect?
Everything you say
Everything you do.
